Eccentricities

I love how it's possible to put together an outfit mixing the old with the new. This is always a test to see how one's taste level and their visual adeptness can materialise into the everyday wardrobe.

Love, love, love Haider Ackerman. His silhouettes and edgy/funkiness blows my mind. This blouse has both chic style and sexy power sensibilities.

I love these vintage monkey-fur capes. Easy to pair with skinnies, leggings, denim trousers, or over an amazing dress. The first is real fur, the second is faux.

I'm OBSESSED with these Chloe high-waisted camel trousers. They are so very effortless and chic at the same time, paired with the cape/cloak, the look is becoming so very timeless and elegant.

I love what the accessories team does at Obey, a local home-grown OC clothing/art/design collaborative. Funky pieces, easy to wear, good people, and an edgy vibe.

And finally shoes. How can you not love Alexander McQueen. Everything he does is amazing. Attention to detail, fashion forward thinking, amazing cuts, amazing silhouettes. I love him. His shoes, well they speak for themselves. If you feel as if I mention him and his designs too much, it's because I'm obsessed. If you don't like it, Leave ;)

Burberry Prorsum

Burberry Prorsum

Christopher Bailey for Burberry is the best thing that ever happened to the fashion house, except for maybe the trench. His masterful ways of combining a feminine silhouette with edgy features, enables him to really target that strong minded woman from business to evening. For his SS11 collection, his use of nude colouring and pops of hot accents, along with edgy details (top stitching for quilt-like reults on leather), enables the collection to be well balanced. Girly dresses under sharp leather jackets continue this theme.

3.1 Phillip Lim

3.1 PHILLIP LIM

Many of the shows for SS11 are incoporating whites and different themes that have been popular in the last couple of seasons. Voluminous shapes, structured silhouettes, floral motifs, are amongst the many different variations in the garments we have seen.

Phillip Lim is known for his edgy yet, relaxed and comfortable garments that have been seen on some of the coolest and chicest models in NYC and Paris to the streets and homes of Orange County. I am so very glad he is able to change how many Californians see clothing, as he grew up in Orange County and graduated from Cal State Long Beach. Girly, modern, whimsical, and edgy.

Schiaparelli

"Women dress alike all over the world: they dress to be annoying to other women"

- Elsa Schiaparelli

I love the fact that she was and still is outrageous in the way she spoke, acted, and most importantly designed.

Stars N Garments

So we have many celebrities today whom love fashion and love to reinvent themselves. It's part of who we are: it's the way humans adapt and evolve. Not only are you able to express yourself through your clothes, but they become an extension of you: a body part. What more can you ask for?! It's almost like therapy. Clothes really show people how you feel inside; why cover up your emotions? Let your clothes speak for you ;)

I'm OBSESSED with Scandinavian model Freja Beha Erichsen and Academy Award Winner Tilda Swinton. They have this other-worldly look, which I love, and have amazing taste in clothes. Garments just look better on their bodies.

The OG of Crazy Avant Gardenes

Who else can it be but Elsa Schiaparelli! The Original Gangsta of Craziness! Her designs were far advanced and ahead of everyone else. She had this rockstar quality, which not only translated through her garments, but even her own photoshoots and images. This woman WAS Glam Rock personified. We can still see bits and pieces of her and her ideas in designers today:

Shapes

Since one can remember, architecture has been inspiring people of all industries in terms of shapes, silhouettes, innovation, etc. One has to understand that so much work and research goes into the concpetion and inception of these ideas and environments. The built form most definitely relates to the body; garments being a smaller-scale version of what's all around us. Take for example:

There is so much attention to detail in terms of fabrication, construction and the materials chosen, always impacting us humans on a larger scale.
